So check it… when I started, she was an avenger; she was out for the sweet taste of blood and retribution was the only goal her hatred could see. Being a mother myself, I tore into this painting and let my primal instincts take over. What I ended up with was a cold blooded killer. That’s not my Audrey; that’s not me. So while it was therapeutic to go deep down into the darkness of vengeance, I knew I had to guide her back to the light.
I teach my four year old daughter that the villains in her fairytales become evil because somewhere along the way, their heart was broken. They took the hurt from their wounds and repackaged it to become the one who hurts others. I didn’t like seeing my girl in that role. Yes, she kills out of necessity but not to quench a thirst. And so, I painted over all the anger, gore and hatred and left her in the moment after the act of surviving… that moment where she is sweet and silently mourns the loss of her innocence. Are you satisfied or would you have rather seen her go to the dark side
What do you think today’s Audrey is trying to express I’m getting a woman who is fighting to survive— to kill or be killed— a sweet Audrey that needed to get the job done. ✊

PS I didn’t hit record on the blood bath that ensued before my epiphany and I’m happy I didn’t capture that. It was never meant to be shared I guess. That was just for me and my Audrey. ❤️
