Getting lost in a rust abstract painting and I was truly inspired when I learned the scientific makeup of rust. Hydrated Ferric Oxide Aka Rust is just a form of corrosion caused by atoms gaining and losing electrons. The truth is iron and other metal alloys prefer the thermodynamically favored state of corrosion but we humans bind and seal these elements to remain pure and clean for our own needs. That knowledge just makes me feel; it makes me connect with my intentions and pushes my piece forward in an empowering direction.
Initially I wanted to do a steel rust painting then I learned that beautiful turquoise patina color pop is in elements like copper. I love that. Cu disguises itself as Fe but cannot hide its true self when aged and corroded. You can pretend to be something you’re not but aging gives away your genetic makeup and it’s beautiful.

I'm the one at the sail; I'm the master of my sea.
The master of my sea, oh-ooh.”
