For me, the remarkable beauty of a willow tree lies in the way rain drops can be trapped in the supple branches until they fall to the ground like tears that fall from our face. But we musn't ever forget, we need that sadness. We need those tears to wash away the hardships and difficulties so that when love does prevail... we can appreciate and recognize that which is hopeful and joyful.

I appreciate how the colors in this painting change depending on the light. As you will see in my uedited photos above, I intentionally took photos of the details of her in various lighting so that you could get an understanding of this painting's limitless potential.

Placed in direct sunlight, she will beam back at you; enticing you to be more vibrant today, as she prominently features Hope's silhouette. If she's placed in darker lighting, her shades will deepen and it'll seem as if she's muted under a painfully-heavy raincloud. I even included a shot of her backlit to share the trick of how Hope disappears into the fading background when forced to compete with the energy of the sun.

Jane Siberry reminded me, on repeat, that, "It Can't Rain All the Time."

"We walked the narrow path,
Beneath the smoking skies.
Sometimes you can barely tell the difference,
Between darkness and light.
Do you have faith,
In what we believe?
The truest test is when we cannot,
When we cannot see.

Oh it won't rain all the time.
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
Your tears won't fall, your tears won't fall,
Your tears won't fall forever."
